How to light your restaurant?
To light your restaurant, you need to think about three essential criteria:
Good general restaurant lighting should give your establishment a pleasant, cosy glow.
The EN 12464-1 standard states that the average interior lighting in your restaurant should not be less than 80 lux for your dining room. As for light intensity measured in kelvin, it must be less than 3300 kelvin corresponding to warm light. Finally, your choice of bulb should be oriented towards LED bulbs, which offer optimal lighting and consume less energy.
For quick restorations, the recommended average lux is 200 lux and a kelvin greater than 3300 Kelvin (bright luminosity)
To illustrate these rules in a practical case, let's imagine that you need to light your restaurant having a size of 50m2.
You need in number of lumens minimum 50 x 80 lux = 4000 lumens.
Each table or dining area on the bar must be directly illuminated. So, we install a suspension 1 bulb above each table and one bulb for 2 seats at the bar, you get 8 bulbs. What lighting above a table?
Choose the right lighting for your customers' dining area without them being dazzled.
Each table should have its own pendant light and should be evenly lit. TheCoppa lampshade folds the light back towards the table is a good idea for optimal lighting.
The bulb of your pendant light should be about 75 cm above the table. At this height, the brightness will be quite intimate and the light beam will be focused on the dining area.
What are the standards for restaurant lighting?
Professional restaurant lighting and the EN certificate of conformity
Your restaurant receives the public and your lighting in addition to the CE standard must have the EN 60598 standard.
Beware, a CE-marked luminaire has not necessarily been tested by an independent laboratory attesting that the chosen luminaire has passed EN 60598 compliance tests.

How to light a bar?

The distance between 2 suspensions varies between 65 cm and 1 meter. One light bulb is recommended for every 2 people seated at a bar.
