What are the different steps involved in making a Scandinavian suspension?

Whether you're an avid DIY enthusiast or you're not really into DIY, you'll manage to customize your IKEA suspension without difficulty if you follow the following tutorial.

Unboxing the lampshade

Start by disassembling your IKEA lampshade to keep only the structure.

Measuring and cutting the fabric

Use a sewing tape measure to measure the diameter of the lampshade. Then transfer all the measurements to the fabric you want and cut, not forgetting to add 3 cm for the hem.

Fabric trimming

It's important to iron the fabric to avoid unsightly creases! Then position the iron-on tape at the hem. The heat of the iron will melt it, so you won't have to sew by hand.

Place the fabric on the metal structure

Then position the fabric, while making notches at the stems. Be careful, be meticulous for a top result!

Press once more!

Put iron-on tape at the top and bottom hems, between the flap and the fabric. Iron to secure.

A completely secure electrical installation

At Hoopzi, we offer complete IKEA hackshardware kits, which meet all current safety standards. Our lighting cables come with a 10-year guarantee. This way, you avoid any risk of unpleasant surprises!

Placing the Scandinavian pendant light in your interior

Now all you have to do is install your new pendant light inside your home! You can place it in the living room, to imbue the area with a soft atmosphere, or in the bedroom, to create a truly cocooning ambience. It will also look great above a kitchen island or chest of drawers.
