How to choose the right bulbs?

The arrival of LED bulbs has changed our reference points, and we no longer need to think in watts, but in Lumen. Lumen is the unit that measures luminous flux. A 5-watt Led bulb emits as much luminous flux (lumens) as an old 40-50-watt incandescent bulb. Many of you have retained the Watts/Lumen references of incandescent bulbs.

How many watts do you need for a defined number of Lumens depending on the type of bulb?

The table below allows you to compare the Watt power of each bulb type in relation to the level of luminous flux you need:

What lighting for what room?

The quality of your lighting in your room depends on thelight intensity and color temperature.

How to calculate the amount of light

The amount of light in a room is expressed in Lux, this is Lumen/m2. For example 2 bulbs producing 500 lumen (luminous flux) each in a 12 m2 room produce (2 x 500 lumens)/ 12 m2 = 83.33 Lux

The appropriate level of illumination for a room corresponds to the activities you carry out in it. Reading a book or walking down a corridor don't require the same amount of light. As an example, the recommendations of the French Lighting Association are:

In this recommendation, general lighting corresponds to the sum of all the lumens of each bulb divided by the number of m2 in the room.
Spot lighting in a reading light is the luminous intensity projected onto your book.
So a cable light BALA equipped with the ST64 4W bulb of 350 lumen positioned above your book allows you to read in good conditions and the G95 milky of 930 lumen will be perfect above your kitchen worktop.

Which color temperature for which room?

LED bulbs emit a color expressed in Kelvin. The lower the Kelvin number the warmer the light, and the higher the Kelvin the whiter the light and the colder the impression.

The choice of color for each piece is suggestive and corresponds to each individual's sensibility. However, Hoopzï advises standardizing color temperature between rooms to avoid tiring the eyes.
We have therefore chosen to offer you a choice of bulbs in our collection providing between 2000 and 3000 Kelvin. Thus, the G95 amber bulb has a light temperature close to that of candles and is very intimate and perfect for being an ambient and decorative light. As for the G95 6.5 W it's a warm white light suitable for illuminating the living areas of your home while maintaining a cosy ambience.
